Mountaintop

It's great to journey up to the top of the mountain... as long as you don't remain there secluded and ineffective. You may as well have been stranded on a desert island. It's only when you come back down that you're able to share and pass-along to others the enrichment that you harnessed from the peak.

Cherish your mountaintop experiences, but know when to apply what you experienced.

Of Bread and Tea Bags

My sandwich-holder tupperware is custom shaped like a piece of bread. My bread won't fit in it because it's much too big!

The tea bag should hang in the mug just right... but it doesn't! The mug is so large, the tea-bag's string just isn't long enough to loop over the edge sufficiently.

Both of these items had some thought and engineering go into their design. Their form and function were at one time appropriate. But things change.

Some things are perfect for a specific time and place but as the world changes around them, they no longer serve the same purpose they once did.

Progress is not universal. Progress is not always progress. As time marches forward, many good things get left behind.

The Arts Can be Enjoyed After All

YES, it is possible to appreciate the work of a person's hands...
their crafts, art, music, writings, designs, construction, engineering, inventions, fashions, or any other form of creativity...
EVEN IF you don't personally like that person or agree with their lifestyle, opinions, decisions, ethics, morality, and any of those other areas which separate them from yourself.

Sometimes a person's contributions can be judged separately from their person.

Perfect World

One problem with a perfect ideal world is there wouldn't be any people to enjoy it. There really couldn't be any predatory animals or insects… or even those who eat upon the lush vegetation. Actually a perfect world doesn't sound so great after all.

Comforting

Man-made comforts are those things which make our life much easier, and free us up to spend our time doing something else. Unfortunately we get so accustomed and addicted to them that we often can't live without them and become soft and weak in that area.

Edit Thyself!

We fear censorship so much that we have lost the art of editing. Though the two may seem one and the same, censoring is done with the intention of silencing by an outside party. Editing can be done to both others and to oneself. It has the intention of improving what's being said by focusing on the important and eliminating the dross.

If more of us would edit our actions, speech and words, not only would confusion subside somewhat but we could also improve our relationships and narrow our differences.

Troubleshooting

When you're a troubleshooter you never totally heed the advice "that's not what's causing the problem."
Problems often sneak in from unexpected sources.

Lemons

If you commend something high enough, the person who listens to you and takes your advice might still end-up with a lemon.
How we handle life's lemons is where the difference lies.

Wicked

When first hearing there was a Broadway musical named Wicked, I at first assumed it must be the story of humanity. Perhaps it is somewhat similar to our collective past, or at least the way we try to justify our actions... minus the green face paint of course.

Seeking Revenge?

Revenge, no matter how justified, will always bear with it bad fruit. That is it's nature.
