Over the years I've laughed at the uncommon sentiment from one of my good friends at the time.
I occasionally apply his same logic to other situations, such as:
"It tastes pretty bad... but that's the way I like my food."
"It hurts my ears... but that's the way I like my music."
"It's pretty boring... but that's the way I like my entertainment."
