When we dwell on our self we naturally pull away from God and His ways. When we turn our focus on others, then we are able to be drawn to God. There is no such thing as a self-focused person who is residing in the perfect will of God. By putting self on our own personal pedestal and throne, we have no room for anyone else (including God) to have no other purpose except to meet our needs.
No authentic 'holy person' can reside in a monastery or on a mountaintop... their seclusion prevents them from truly being holy.
Jesus stamped his disapproval on the majority of holy men which this world has to offer.
Don't be taken-in by any spiritual teacher who's life and teaching doesn't verify what Christ taught and demonstrated!
