Weird Science

I believe the world is round.
My senses indicate the world is flat.
The moon hints the world might be shaped like it.
My faith holds that the world is being maintained and held together.
There's a possibility the world might be round... or it could be flat.
Tradition teaches the world sits on the back of an elephant.
Research has verified the world is indeed round.

Beliefs, senses, comparisons, faith, traditions, and teachings can all be false. Research is the only means to reach a fairly accurate conclusion. But even research which barks up the wrong tree can mislead and produce false evidence too.

So, hold on to your beliefs and traditions until thorough and accurate research either verifies them or disproves them. Be able to recognize accurate research from inconclusive or agendaic research, which can be more harmful than it is helpful.

Believe what you want, but don't believe with stubborn ignorance.
